I spent far too much time on this portrait of my gf. I planned to finish in 1.5 hours, but I did it in 2-2.5 hrs instead.. I must practice more speed paintings..

Stuff that's been going on

Hey,

Here are stuff I have some art made during my free time.

This one here is a drawing of my girlfriend. She asked me to draw her as a painter with magic powers. So here's my take on it. The design changed quite a few times during the whole process, but in the end, I kind like how it turned out.
This one right here started out by me just doodling around, making shapes on the blank canvas. I somehow made a cavern then I suddenly had the idea of making a giant snake crawling inside it. It turned out pretty good from thumbnail size, but zoomed in, it's just okay.
This here is just for practice. I took a random picture from Flickr and then paint it in black and white. I definitely need more practice with Photoshop and how I handle the brushes.

The next one will be different as it is a school project.
From left to right: humans, demigods, and gods.
I have to make some tweaks to the gods concept since they look weaker and more normal than the demigods. The humans are heavily influenced by the barbarians from Diablo.

More updates

ART301 (Concept art class) stuff

Our task is to create a concept art with a given theme. The theme is a war between gods versus mortals and demigods.

For the demigods, I was thinking of making them like valkyries and women are superior than the men. Hence the bigger wings on the females.
The gods, yes, the gods... were really, really hard to come up with. I didn't really know what I wanted this race to be. First I had the idea of gigantic beings, it somehow didn't really work out. Then I got an inspiration from "The Lord of the Rings". Remember the Nazguls? The ones riding the fell beasts? Yes, those. I then made the gods powerful knights like the judges from Final Fantasy XII, but with dragon mounts.
The humans were the easiest to come up with. I wanted them to look like spartans, but more ferocious.

CG305 aka ZBrush

Here's my concept for ZBrush class:
I am currently low-poly modelling this character before importing it to ZBrush. This will be my first time using ZBrush, so I am pretty excited. Although I may have actually killed myself by giving the character too many clothings and drapery... I hope this will go well.

Some other paintings

I did these paintings for fun.
A painting of my headphones, painted from life. I think this took me about an hour.
I painted this one while waiting for my class to end. Took me 30 mins or so.

PRJ350 updates!

Hey, I haven't updated for a while. I apologize for that. But hey, I am bringing you some goodies in this post as an apology ;)

These are my concept works for the PRJ350 class.

I had to change my character after the first milestone because I didn't really like the old design. It didn't really fit into the world I imagined. I was going for a cartoony and painterly look. The old design was too realistic and boring, so I decided to just scrape the design and completely redo it.

Here are the old design:
And here's the new design:
As you can see, the new design is way more cartoony than the old one. I also like it better and it is actually more of the same style as the rest of the character's world.

These are some more concepts:
This is the style guide with the props I will model:
And this is the 2-page storyboard:
