Designing PRJ350
Here's sketches of what my char's gonna be for PRJ350. She's the adult version of my previous PRJ300 character. I'm trying to give a more cartoony look, but still maintaining a certain degree of realism. As you can see, there are several iterations of the costume. I am still trying to improve on the design.

Finals, yay
Storyboards final animatic.
Although I got some crits in class just now, I am probably at the point of not caring anymore. I will try and get the character design and environment finalized during the upcoming 3-week winter break. I might also totally change the character because it's pretty similar to a character my friend has.
Before post-processing.
After post-processing in Photoshop.
This is my final render for 3D environment class. I had to manually paint the strong rim light on the car because I couldn't get the result in Maya. I wanted it to be that strong to make the mood and feeling have more impact to the viewer.
Junior projects part 1 final.
I am not really satisfied with the final result for this class. I learned quite a lot new stuff during the course of the class though. After Effects was fun to use, I may have to try and mess around with the program some time later.

Some fixes and sculpture update
I made several changes to my interior scene. I added AO, tweaked the lighting with Photoshop and little adjustments to the focal point.
For the medieval painting, I added cast shadows of the window panes, color tweaks and adding tiny bits of highlights to the beams and windows. I also adjusted the colors of the foreground grasses and removed the ghosting effect.
I added basic facial features, added the forearms, fixed the legs and several details.

Update
Final rendering of the medieval painting.
I learned some stuff doing this painting:
1. Textures are awesome.
2. Custom brushes are a life saver.
3. Reusing parts is a quick and cheap way to get jobs done.

Maya Exterior
Hey,
It's time for some 3D goodness.
It's time for some 3D goodness.
Low poly.
NURBS.
What is this car for you ask?
It's for my exterior assignment. My concept is a back alley with this car as the hero prop (main item, focal point, you get it).
When I was looking for inspirations in the internet, I came across this particular photo. I just thought, "This is it." Thus, the back alley concept was born.
I want it to be a run-down alley, abandoned. I want it to show loneliness and coldness.
Here are my concept sketches.
I hope this assignment turns out well; modelling the car took me ages... I'm just gonna believe that that's not a sign of what's gonna come.

Human Figure Sculpture
Fixed a lot of stuff today.. and the thighs are still cracking because of one of the fixes. I hope it doesn't crack when I get back on it next week.

Update
I fixed my cityscape painting based on the in-class crits. I just needed to make nature more random. Yeah, so I used a custom brush to create the random pattern on the tree and the cliff. I also added a texture to the cliff.
Here's my next assignment. We're supposed to create a medieval version of a photo we took. I actually have to add lighting information but since the picture I took was at night, and I want my scene to be in the day, I decided to skip it and take another picture sometime later.Monday, November 7, 2011
Finished Textures
I'm finally done texturing my char. Her pants folds are a pain to make.. It's really really difficult to make them look like folds because of the vertical stripes. I had to reduce the opacity of the folds and bump up the normals.

Cityscape v2
My final for cityscape assignment. It's a 5-hour-or-so painting. I'm gonna need to practice speed painting and colors. Crits are welcome.

Maya Final Render
Here lies my final render for 3D environment class.
Crits are welcomed, but I probably won't mess around with this anymore. I'll use them for future references.

3D Environment
It's so hard to get composition and lighting right. Even tiny details account to everything... So far, this is what I have. I'm going to add a skybox tomorrow.

Two Miners
For storyboarding class, we are supposed to make any story about two miners underground. Without further ado, here is mine:
I feel the establishing beat isn't too clear. I can't show how they enter the mine from the other side of the world since we are restricted to an underground setting (although I clearly broke the rule in the ending).

Oh 3D...
Here's an update to my PRJ300 character:
Pretty basic textures with AO and some foldings on the clothes. Here's a new look and feel for 3D environment class, didn't spend too much time on it:
Did this in half an hour or so, while browsing the web.

Storyboard
The assignment was to breakdown 2 short films into 6 story beats. I might've not break it down properly since I feel like they're too long.
Sketchbook assignment for this week:
